According to regulations the GTCC is required to be used for official travel expenses. Generally, it is expected that you use your card for 3 items:
1) Hotels
2) Car Rentals
3) Plane Tickets
It is not recommended that you use your card for any other travel expenses unless absolutely necessary.
The GTCC is issued as a benefit to the DoD, not the member. If you're thinking you need the GTCC to balance your expenses/bills, you need to become a better manager of your personal finances by taking a class such as Financial Peace University with Dave Ramsey.
