In the Military and particularly in the Marines, the uniform makes the first impression. A squared away uniform indicates a squared away Marine. A sloppy uniform indicates an undisciplined and sloppy Marine.
Please note that USMC boots always have the USMC EGA (Eagle, Globe, & Anchor) branded on the heels. A tan pair of boots without the EGA is not authorized as a USMC uniform item.
The Daylight Savings Uniform Change
When the time changes so does the uniform. During winter months the woodland MARPATs are the uniform of choice while during the summer months the desert MARPATs are the uniform of choice. Remember to change your smoke alarm batteries, your clocks, and your uniforms together.
The BISOG MARPAT Cover
BISOG uniforms have their quirks and challenges. One of my challenges was trying to figure out what pin to put on my MARPAT cover. After asking around it became clear that BISOG officers must wear the Subdued (black) Navy Officer Crest while BISOG enlisted chiefs wear the subdued (black) Navy Enlisted/Chief insignia on their MARPAT cover in place of the EGA that the Marines wear on their cover.
